Nouilles Star is a straightforward spot for anyone craving hearty Chinese and broader Asian flavors in the heart of downtown Montreal. Nestled on Saint-Catherine Street West, this restaurant serves up generous portions that often catch locals by surprise, especially given its very reasonable prices. It’s the kind of place that fills up quickly during lunch and dinner hours, making it a reliable option for those looking for a quick yet satisfying meal without breaking the bank.

The vibe inside leans toward old-school simplicity—think sturdy wooden tables and functional seating, with a service style that’s efficient and friendly, though atmospheric flair isn’t the focus here. This is more about getting right to the food, which arrives promptly and is often praised for its bold flavors and sizable servings.

Staples like General Tao Chicken and various noodle dishes, including 5 Spice Chicken on Noodles and Cantonese Chowmein, reflect familiar favourites executed with consistent quality. You can expect classic comfort options such as the House Special Fried Rice loaded with shrimp, chicken, or beef, along with vegetarian choices like Vegetable Noodles and Imperial Rolls. A few dishes venture slightly beyond traditional Chinese cuisine, as with the Pad Thai Crevette, showing a modest pan-Asian influence.

Visitors often mention the efficient pacing of service, making Nouilles Star a convenient stop for busy weekdays or casual late-night cravings, as it stays open later than many nearby spots. This flexibility, combined with the generous portion sizes, appeals especially to groups of friends or coworkers who want to sample multiple dishes without overspending.

On the casual side, the restaurant offers a small selection of classic beverages, from lemon tea with passion fruit to common soft drinks, rounding out the simple yet fulfilling experience. The finishing touch of a fortune cookie adds a lighthearted note to the meal, reinforcing its approachable, no-fuss charm.

In sum, Nouilles Star fits well into Montreal’s diverse Chinatown scene by delivering big-flavored, sizable meals in an unpretentious setting. It appeals most to those who prioritize value and speed over ambiance, and it works well as a dependable spot for sharing a variety of dishes during busy days or late evenings.

Delicious food, very big portions and greatest prices i've seen in a while. Went with my friend and ordered 4 different dishes. We are big eaters, so usually 3-4 potions is just right. This time, we barely finished one each. Service is fast and kind. Their lemon tea with passion fruit is incredibly tasty and the place is clean. Will definitively be coming back.

The food here is cheap and the portion size is huge for the price. Easily value for money. I tried the thai chicken fried rice, general tao chicken, and peanut butter dumplings. Dumplings can be skipped, the wrapper was just too thick and chewy. But the chicken and fried rice were good. Service is fast, and it was easy to get a table.

The food at Nouilles Star was absolutely delicious! Every dish was full of flavor, and the portions were very generous for the price—definitely great value. While the decor gives off some very old-school vibes (think aged wooden tables and seats), the taste of the food more than makes up for it. I really enjoyed the experience overall. The only thing that stood out a bit was the older waiter—he seemed in a rush and not super warm or chatty, more like “give me the bottom line” energy. But if you’re going for the food, it’s totally worth it. I’ll be back!

This place made the fall in love with Chinese food. My favorite dish is general Tao chicken (comes with rice) and every time I get to try new noddles, which I always love the taste of. The service is good, and the preparation time is super super fast. It’s a plus but I love the fortune cookies they give at the end

Great late night eats! Was searching for restaurants open late and this popped up. Super tasty and flavourful! What you would expect from your typical local Chinese restaurant but it exceeded my expectations surprisingly. They’re generous on their portions too (huge bonus)! Service was top notch. The gentleman serving was so friendly and had a warm attitude even towards the end of his long day shift. The vibe is like what you’d get from a typical hole in the wall place, super clean and simple decor. Overall enjoyed the food and service, would 100% recommend and come back again!

Fast. Filling. Cheap. Good. I think that's the way that the restaurant owners would like this review. Last time I went, we ordered and in less than five minutes, our order was on our table and we were digging into. I've been here quite a few times because it's fast. The servings are fairly large -- big enough for two, and it's cheap. $13.50 for dinner for two if you keep your demands low. And it's good. Not quite up to the standards that my father used to make at home, but it's pretty darn good. Not a lot of atmosphere -- well, there actually is a lot of atmosphere. It's bustling, it's busy, and it's fast, filling, cheap and good food. That's atmosphere enough. I liked it so much, I took a friend of mine from San Diego there for dinner.
